Sisters Academy - The Boarding School @ Inkonst Malmö

In a future society arising from a post-economical and ecological crisis, the world as we know it is no more. But The Sister and her staff have planted a seed of hope and opened Sisters Academy – a school in a world and society where the sensuous and poetic mode of being is at the center of all action and interaction.

For three weeks in September, Inkonst in Malmö will transform into a boarding school where you will be able to explore and unfold new modes of more sensuous and poetic learning in an immersive landscape of sounds, images and bodies.

Operating at the intersection of performance art, activism, pedagogy and research, the large-scale Nordic project Sisters Academy manifests in a series of countries between 2014 and 2017. The project is initiated by the Danish performance group Sisters Hope who use radical interventionist and immersive performance art strategies to transform ordinary environments into parallel, slightly oblique universes where new modes of sensuous learning can be explored and unfolded.

In Malmö the project manifests in two parts:

in part one, The Boarding School, performing arts venue Inkonst will be transformed into a massive performance experiment between August 30th and September 20th. Anyone over the age of 18 is invited to enroll as a student for at least 24 hours and become a co-explorer and mover towards the new.

Part two, The Takeover, is prescheduled to take place in the spring of 2016. The Sister and her staff take over the leadership of an actual upper secondary school in the Malmö area for two weeks and investigate new modes of poetic knowledge production in close collaboration with the students and teachers at the school.

Anyone over the age of 18 can enroll as a student and stay for a minimum of 24 hours, and up to the entire three weeks inside The Boarding School. You get a bed, three meals a day, a school uniform and some essential objects to take you through your experience as a student.

Five days a week there will be seminars, concerts and performances inside The Boarding School, that anyone can attend without having to enroll as a student.
