THE SWEDISH GLOBAL HEALTH CONFERENCE 2020: Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals through social innovation and multidisciplinary action.

The world is currently off-track to reach the SDGs by 2030. Health is not improving at the pace needed to reach several of the health‑related SDGs, in particular in resource-constrained settings and countries suffering from conflict. We need to do better and to do more. Social innovation is an important part of the solution. Social innovations are new ideas that meet societal needs, create social relationships, and form new collaborations. These innovations can be products, services, or models addressing unmet needs more effectively. Global Health research and education has an important role to play in the achievement of the SDGs, but in order to play this role, the link between research, higher education, and society must be strengthened, for example by contributing to social innovation.

In order to advance our knowledge of how Global Health innovations can best be implemented, we invite you to an international conference on the role of universities in promoting social innovation and multidisciplinary action. The symposium will build on the two previously organized conferences on “Global Health Education” held in Umeå, 2016 and the conference on “Global Health Research: How can Sweden contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals –From Research to Action” held in Stockholm 2018.

Recognizing that we all can contribute and improve the health of the world, the Swedish Global Health Conference welcomes everyone with an interest in global health, ranging from students, active researchers, and colleagues interested in starting global health research. The conference aims to stimulate cooperation across disciplines and generations.

The conference is organized by Lund University and the Swedish Society of Medicine in cooperation with other partners and organizations.
