A Feminist Vision for Peace in South Caucasus
Free entry, but registration is required. Welcome for a coffee and mingle from 10:15!
Feminists’ alternative perspectives and visions of peace highlight the ways in which peace can be taken out of its narrow boundaries within international relations and political science in order to learn from and become relevant for the daily lived experiences of people's lives.
The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation and the Imagine Center for Conflict Transformation are pleased to invite you to attend a seminar on “A Feminist Vision for Peace in South Caucasus”. The seminar will explore the conceptualizations of peace from the standpoint of feminists in the South Caucasus.
The seminar will investigate the topic of gender and sexuality and (re) producing the image of the Enemy in conflict contexts, looking at particular examples from Armenia, Georgia, and Turkey. The panellists will discuss reproducing gender norms and patriarchal values in peacebuilding and conflict transformation, as well as women’s organization’s creative approach to peace and conflict work for overcoming the obstacles in their peace work.
The event features the recent publication by the Caucasus Edition: Journal of Conflict Transformation. The publication is part of a project aimed at strengthening the collaboration of established and emerging analysts from the South Caucasus and Turkey on topics such as feminist and communitarian approaches to peace, and supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden.
