The 5th Nordic Transgender Studies Network Conference


The conference will have a special focus on activism in relation to Trans Studies, and it aims to connect scholars, activists and artists working on topics related to Transgender Studies within or connected to the Nordic region.

Following previous Nordic Transgender Studies network conferences, we wish to create a collective space for reflection, connection, community building and lively discussion across disciplinary boundaries as well as reaching outside the academia. The conference will provide space both for presentations and informal exchange, as well as a designated time for a discussion on how to further develop the network which is particularly devoted to academic research and academic activism, and for future planning of network activities, including the next conference.

The conference will start with a relaxed get-together in the evening of the 24th followed by two days of workshops and a keynote speech by Julian Honkasalo, PhD, Gender Studies, University of Helsinki.

The conference is hosted by the Centre for Gender Studies and GEXcel International Colleagium.
