Framework - conversation & movement workshop

During a two-hour conversation and movement workshop the autonomy of the body at work is investigated through movement of which the frame is exhausted. Departing from Kasia Wolińska's choreographic research on Isadora Duncan's early 1900's political strategies of the future body situated in a Communist discourse, Frida Sandström will link the agency of the singular body to the raving structures of the Dancing Plague 1518 – a movement preceding the first ballet academies, when a group of un-choreographed bodies were understood as if they were caught by a decease. 500 years later, this event is put into the context of the individual and collective body at work today. The programme will start with a short lecture by Sandström.

Under en två timmars rörelse- och samtalsworkshop närmar vi oss den arbetande kroppens autonomi genom rörelse vars ram utmattas. Ett avstamp görs i Kasia Wolinskas koreografiska undersökning av Isadora Duncans politiska strategier från tidigt nittonhundratal, då en framtida kropp läses genom en kommunistisk diskurs. Något som Frida Sandström läser bredvid 1518 års raveliknande Danspest – en rörelse som föregick de första balettakademierna, då en grupp icke-koreograferade kroppars rörelser skrevs in i historien som epidemiskt sjuka. 500 år senare förstås händelsen i relation till den individuella och kollektiva kroppen i arbete. Programmet inleds med en kort föreläsning av Sandström.
