Welcome to Asylum Forum 2016 at Stockholm Pride!

Asylum Forum is a two dag seminar and debate forum about LGBTQI and asylum rights in Sweden arranged by RFSL with participation from other organisations, government agencies, politicians and other actors.

NOTE! Asylum Forum is mostly an English speaking event and their are possible TRIGGER WARNINGS throughout the program concerning topics of violence.

****TUESDAY 26th JULY*****

12:00 - 12:30 Opening Ceremony Welcome to Asylum Forum 2016. Join us at the opening ceremony with speaker Frida Sandegård newly elected president of RFSL and Asylum Forum information.

12:40 - 14:00 Safe Asylum Housing One of the year's big debate issues raised here on the basis of getting new information on the processes of creating safer housing for LGBTQI asylum seekers in Sweden. Moderated by Andrés Esteche (President, RFSL Stockholm). Participants: Carina Wrangebo (Crime Victim support, RFSL), Göran Stanton (Hate Crime Unit, Police), Jaqueline Bajo Lundberg (Processleder accommodation and support, The Swedisk Migration Agency), Pär Viktorsson (Executive director, RFSL). This program will be in English!

14:15 - 15:15 Looking For The Answers A film screening followed by talks and conversation! Haris Sabotic from Macedonia talks about discrimination, hate crime and persecution. Oleg Ivanov from Kazakstan talks about better living-conditions for LGBTQI people. Enes Lukac from Serbia an Oxford Research scholar talks about their research article about "safe countries". Conversation is moderated by Ulrika Westerlund (Chefeditor, Feministiskt perspektiv). This program will be in English!

15:30 - 16:30 "Safe Countries" What is a safe country? What makes a country safe? What are the consequences of "safe countries" in relations to LGBTQI asylum cases? And how does the Swedish Migration agency relate LGBTQI asylum grounds to the list of "safe countries". Moderated by Cihan Arikan (Board member, RFSL) Madelaine Seidlitz (Amnesty International Sweden), Sanna Vestin (FARR), Aino Gröndahl (Asyljurist RFSL), Mahyareh Kamali (The Swedish Migration Agency) This program will be in English!

16:45-18:00 New Asylum Laws Effecting LGBTQI The effects and consequences of the new asylum laws for LGBTQI refugees, asylum seekers and undocumented in Sweden. Moderated by Magnus Kolsjö (Vice president, RFSL). Participants: Jenni Stavare (FARR), Madelaine Seidlitz (Amnesty), Mahyareh Kamali (The Swedish Migration Agency), Aino Gröndahl /Patrick Bazanye(Asylum lawyer, RFSL) This program will be in Swedish!

****WEDNESDAY 27th JULY***** 12:00-13:00 LGBTQI and Undocumented A conversation about undocumented* LGBTQI persons rights, the political and practical obstacles and progressions. *Undocumented is the general term describing a person who does not have Swedish residentship, ID documents and is not or no longer in an asylum process. In legal terms the person is staying and living in Sweden without legal permission and therefore risks deportation. Moderated by Tine Alavi (RFSL Newcomers coordinator) Participants: Sissela Nordling Blanco (F!, President of Kommunstyrelsens råd för mänskliga rättigheter), Love Källman (HBTQI-gruppen, Ingen Människa är Illegal Stockholm), Maria Pernod (Röda Korset), Charlotta Lagnander (FARR). 13:15-14:00 HIV, Sexual Health and Asylum A seminar about HIV and sexual health rights for asylum seekers in Sweden. This seminar will also present recent research based och surveys and interviews conducted 2015 with RFSL Newcomers and other organisations experiences. Presentation by Elizabeth Menon (HIV and Sexual health unit, RFSL). This program will be in English!

14:15-15:00 Transgender Rights A conversation about transgender rights in Sweden and internationally. Moderated by Enes Lukac (Oxford Research Stockholm). Participants: Djuna Michelle Jangmyr (F!), Tatelicious Karigambe and more. This program will be in English!

15:15-16:30 LGBTQI Activism in Russia, Bangladesh and Gambia Activists from Russia, Bangladesh and Gambia share their experiences. Moderator: Jasminé Mehho, RFSL Newcomers This program will be in English!
