INFO PANELISTS

Dastan Kasmamytov or simply Danik is a young LGBTIQ activist from Kyrgyzstan. He worked at LGBTIQ organizations “Kyrgyz Indigo”, “Labrys” and with Bishkek Feminist Initiatives. He is currently pursuing his Master’s degree in Public Health in Oslo and working at Unicorns in Tech, LGBTIQ+ tech community.

Marta Cuesta is associate professor in Sociology at Halmstad Högskola. Recently published the book "Hoppets politik: Feministisk aktivism i Sverige idag" with co-writer Mia Liinasson. Research on gender, globalization, resistance, and postcolonial feminism.

Selbi Jumayeva is a visiting research fellow (WEF) at the International Gender Studies Centre at LMH, University of Oxford. She is co-founder of Bishkek Feminist Initiatives and member of LGBTIQA Organization Labrys in Kyrgyzstan.

Malin Beckman is the project manager of "Un/organized Feminism?", a project by the local NGO Malmö Jämställdhetsbyrå (Malmö gender equality bureau). The project "Un/organized Feminism?" aims to strengthening the local feminist civil society in Malmö. Through discussions and workshops with local feminists, the project has identified obstacles and problems for the feminist civil society and attempted to suggest means to overcome these. The project shows – to no surprise – that the civil society is just as gender unequal as the rest of society and that a lot of civil society’s core values present a conflict for feminist organization.
